(Skill) Development Takes Time

This week's video is all about the AUDIO.  VOLUME UP and LISTEN!

The Lightning's color commentator, Brian Engblom, gives us some insight into the practice habits of Ross Colton and his relationship with Tampa's assistant coach, Jeff Halpern.  He also gives us a nice reminder that the fundamentals, like a one-timer, mastered through practice and cumulative repetitions are what often provide the results during games.  It is not always the flashy instagram highlights that make the difference.  It is also a reminder that development takes time.  Skills acquisition is a time and labor intensive process in order for the athlete to feel the changes.  There are no quick fixes.  The expression of elite skill (or fundamental mastery) requires consistency of effort and accumulation of repetitions over time...even for players that are already in the NHL!
